Contractors who are members of the National Electrical Contractors Association that are in good standing and have completed projects between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024.

The following are the judging criteria for the Project Excellence Awards with tips on what the judges are looking for!

• Originality in construction techniques and scope of work
  • State how new and different techniques were used to construct this project
  • If extremely difficult or unique circumstances existed, explain how an approach and techniques were used to overcome the circumstance
  • Take pictures (with descriptions) to build this case
• Quality of workmanship
  • Showcase the quality of the electrical construction.
  • Show the prep, pipework, placement, and unique gear/fixtures
  • Take pictures (with descriptions) to build this case
• Difficulty of installation
  • Show unique site conditions, weather conditions, millwork and other architectural items that presented challenges
  • Site/Project constraints
  • What changed from estimate to project closeout
  • Lessons learned and how it helped future project planning or internal/external conversations
  • Take pictures (with descriptions) to build this case
• Application of technology to aid construction
  • What were the technologies used and how were they used
  • Were there new technologies used
  • Was a technology or use of technology be used going forward as a standard practice
  • Take pictures (with descriptions) to build this case
• Use of pre-construction or pre-fabrication
  • Comment on the planning, precon meetings, strategies and procedures, and unique concepts of this project 
  • Comment on what was prefabricated, how was it accomplished, where was it accomplished, how was it delivered to the site, and how was it installed. 
  • Take pictures (with descriptions) to build this case

The Project Excellence Awards application period opens March 3, 2025 and the deadline to apply is July 3, 2025.

Each applicant can only submit ONE entry per category but CAN apply to multiple categories with different projects.

Projects completed as part of a joint venture are acceptable, as long as all joint venture partners performing electrical work are NECA members.  Winning projects will be awarded in the name of all joint venture partners, but only one award will be handed out.
